One thing I’ve learned in all these years of traveling is this:
everywhere you go, you bring yourself with you.
I’ve lived in Portugal, Paris, Berlin, London, Thailand, and I’ve traveled all around Asia.
I’ve seen it with myself and with many of my clients — moving to a new place, sometimes even a tropical island, hoping it will fix everything.
And yes, environment matters.
Nature heals, community supports.
But it’s not enough.
Because wherever you go, you still bring you.
Your patterns, your habits, your unhealed parts, your longings.
I’ve seen expat clients and friends who finally made their dream come true — moving to a paradise island — and after a few months, feeling lonely, stressed, worried, or disconnected again.
Because the place changed, but inside, nothing shifted yet.
For me, and for many, traveling was necessary.
Leaving my comfort zone, leaving my country, letting go of all the identifications… it helped me find my truth.
I used this time to work deeply on myself, because yes, after a few years I realized that I was still bringing myself with me.
But there is no perfect place.
Every choice has its own contrasts.
Island life has island problems.
City life has city problems.
Being single has its challenges, being in a couple has others.
No kids = one kind of challenge.
Kids = another kind.
The real question is: what kind of contrasts are you willing to hold right now?
And how deeply do you know yourself to choose the resources you need around you — family, nature, art, music, dance, healing, community…
Because at the end of the day, everywhere you go, you bring yourself with you.
