Healing & Personal Growth: 5 Levels That Support Real Change

Woman in a white dress walks down a sandy path through a sunlit palm grove, back view, calm tropical mood.

We often think about healing our limiting patterns, our anxiety, our stress, our crash states.

But I feel there are different levels that can support — or sometimes block — our actual growth.

✨ The first one is IDENTITY.

Sometimes we completely identify with our patterns.

“I am an anxious person.”“I am a stressed person.”“I am just like this.”

Our pattern becomes part of who we believe we are.

And even the way we speak about it can make it feel fixed. Like it’s part of our personality rather than something that can evolve.

So maybe the first shift is simply noticing our language.

Instead of “I am anxious,” maybe:

→ “I experience anxiety.”→ “I have a pattern of becoming anxious in certain situations.”

You are not the pattern.

The pattern is something you experience.

✨Our BELIEFS.

Do I actually believe healing is possible?

Do I believe people can change?

And more importantly: do I believe I can change?

Because we can have all the tools in the world, but if a part of us deeply believes “This is just how I am,” it will influence the healing process.

✨ Our CAPACITY.

Do I have enough resources, tools and practices to support the change?

Do I know how to come back to my centre?

How to regulate myself?

How to take care of myself when I enter a crash state?

This is a big part of what I help my clients develop: not only understanding themselves, but building the capacity to respond differently.

✨ Our BEHAVIOR.

Having tools is one thing. Using them is another.

Am I actually practicing what I know?

When I notice myself entering an old pattern, do I pause and respond differently — even just a little?

Healing also happens through the small actions we repeat.

It’s through these new behaviors that change starts becoming embodied.

✨ And finally, there is the ENVIRONMENT.

I often use the analogy of a war zone.

You can be a calm person.

You can believe you can change.

You can have amazing tools.

But if you are constantly living on a battlefield, it is completely normal for your nervous system to react.

Sometimes healing isn’t about learning to tolerate more.

Sometimes we need to change something in our environment.

→ To say no.→ To create a boundary.→ To remove a repeated stressor.

→ Sometimes even to let go of a relationship or situation that continually puts us into a crash state.

We can develop our capacity, yes.

But we also need environments that support who we are becoming.

✨ So some questions for you:

Identity — Are you completely identified with one of your challenges? Has it become part of who you believe you are?

Beliefs — Do you truly believe change and healing are possible for you?

Capacity — Do you have enough tools, resources and practices to support yourself and come back to centre?

Behavior — Are you actually using what you know and practicing new ways of responding when the old pattern shows up?

Environment — Is your environment supporting your healing — or repeatedly putting you into a state where it would actually be completely normal not to feel okay?

Healing is not only about changing ourselves.

It’s also about how we see ourselves, what we believe is possible, what we practice, and what we choose to surround ourselves with.

With care,

Laeti
